Just a quick outfit post from me today. This skirt from Sugarlips apparel is so pretty, and I just love it's cascading shape and colour-blocked pattern, but I've been having such a hard time trying to figure out a blouse to pair it with! Sometimes stand-out statement pieces can be so difficult to find the perfect pair for. I've been wearing it with a plain t-shirt but that just seemed too odd to put on this blog (as I don't think I've EVER worn any kind of plain shirt without some kind of embellishment on this blog ever, and I'm sure as heck not starting now).
So here's my kind-of giveaway (I've been full of kind-ofs this week, like my kind-of-DIY from Monday. I blame it on the strange ambivalent weather that we've been having - sunny? stormy? summer? winter? it can't make up its mind) - SO anyone who can find the best blouse/shirt/top to go with this skirt (from anywhere on the internet, pricey or cheap, just as long as it's inspiring!) wins a small ad space for 2 months (that's worth $10). You have 3 days to enter! xxx Annika |

This is adorable and I love this little mini challege. Green is my favorite color but it can actually be really hard to match with! Okay, this is my vote (even though I could never afford it)haha.

ReplyDeleteGreat skirt, <3
ReplyDeleteI love this asymmetrical outfit!)
ReplyDeleteThat skirt looks amazing, so much better than the model on the shop gives it credit for! Also, I am loving some of the suggestions you have been given! I love the watermelon top with it, shame it's not real because that looks so cute. sad face. :(

I've been oogling some ASOS tops, and I think these might live up to that skirt (by the way, love love love the skirt itself!):

Here's what I came up with:

(it's a huge image I'm sorry)
#1 Well the belt part is optional since I came up with it later on as I was making these . . . I felt like it gave a more vintage feel to it.. plus it could match your bag and shoes! >w>
Anywhoo #1 is just paired up with a simple short sleeved vintage inspired shirt (from modcloth) with a little bit of detail-- but not too much because I thought the skirt would stand out more!
#2 Yeah I know different shades of whites clash so hard but I wanted to experiment with it-- and I thought it would make the white part of the skirt more distinct. Also I really like the shape of the blouse (from modcloth) and the little bow tie!
#3 Paired with a simple vintage inspired mustard tank shirt (from newlook-- but edited) to complement the green and the white. I liked the little pockets because it looks interesting with the skirt but doesn't grab all of the spotlight from the skirt. :D
#4 I have no idea if I really like this or hate it.. but I thought a little bit of maroon would go with the green. It would also look good with some brown accessories (belt, shoes, bag).
#5 A really cute top (from newlook) with leaves on it-- I thought it went well with the skirt because it reminds me of nature. Although the top is really detailed and flamboyant I feel that it still gels pretty well with the skirt!
#6 A really cute pastel pink vintage inspired tank shirt (from newlook). It's really subtle but pops and it also goes with the whole nature thing. I really like it because I think it complements the green and white pretty well.
#7 Last but not least a printed chiffon shirt with a green bowtie (from modcloth). Sometimes my taste is weird but this is probably my favorite! I like it because it takes the same elements from the skirt (the green and white) and combines it pretty well. The cherry print is so cute-- you could probably make something like this and just add a green bow tie like that. :D
Ohhh my goodness!! This is freaking amazing. You put so much work into it, I love it!
DeleteUnfortunately, the competition is closed!! :( I'm sorry, it's my fault for not making that clearer (I've now put "closed" into the title).
Still, it's really going to help me figure out what to pair with that skirt. I love all the shirt/skirt combinations. Haha and I can't believe you put my hair and hat onto a model, that was so cool.
Anyway, you did such an amazing job on it that I'm going to stick a couple into a blog post :) thank you so much lovely lady, and I'm so sorry that the contest is over because your entry was just so flipping cool!
xxxx
Haha I kind of figured when I realized all the posts were from last month. But I was really bored when I did it. It was a lot of fun! :D
DeleteWell, it is ridiculously cool. I'll try and fit it into a post sometime real soon :)
