Remember my post from about a week ago about how incredible 3D Printing is? Just in case the use of 3D printing to make new organs, or the applications of 3D printing for chocolate technology didn't impress you, yesterday news of a man who had 75% of his skull replaced by a 3D-printed prosthetic was released. The new skull was made by scanning the man's head to generate an accurate 3D replica, and then printed out using a 3D printer. Not only is this new skull made from polyetherketoneketone, a super strong and resistant material, but special details were also added to the structure of the skull to encourage growth of the man's own bone and cells.
We are living in the future. Read more about it here.
Oh! And one more thing before I go today. This is what I woke up to when I switched on my phone this morning (a bad bad habit, checking my emails is the first thing I do every morning now):
Isn't this illustration just incredible? I have to thank Maria Ramirez so much for drawing such a gorgeous portrait. Check out more pretty illustrations on her page here - she's only just started sharing her illustrations with the world, but I am so excited to see what she comes up with next!

Speaking of pastel. . . I've done it! I've gone pastel pink (and pastel purple for my bangs)! I'm so happy with the results--- and it was this blog that inspired me to do it in the first place. Thank you, Pineneedle Collective!

I love the floral socks and floral skirt paired together. This outfit is so perfect for spring. Your pastel shirt is gorgeous too. I'm also loving the print mixing here. Dots and florals just look so great together.
ReplyDeleteNot quite as useful as a skull, but did you see the dress Dita von Teese modelled make from a 3d printer? x

Oh, AWESOME!!!!! I just looked it up then! And they modelled it on the movie metropolis! Too cool!! I wonder how hard it was to get into the dress?
DeletePastel hues are always so alluring and appealing! It's hard to stay away from the pastel part of my wardrobe - and it doesn't need to be Spring! Mint, cherry blossom pink, lavender, powder blue... Wow.

You're really an inspiration and I like your blog, especially when you talk about your outfit as well as a general interest such as the part on the robots (I forgot the term, but I watched the youtube clip, haha)

I cannot get over how great this pastelicious confection is! Those boots are especially rad - you'll never need new shoes again!
ReplyDeleteGreat share on the 3d printing thing by the way. I'd heard about them printing vinyl records etc this way, but organs and skulls?!?! Anyone who is disappointed that the hoverboards in Back to the Future aren't in existence yet needs to take a good hard look around them. The 21st century is incredible! See, this is why I wanted you to feature in my magazine :)
Betti xx
BEAUTIFUL! I LOVE HOW YOU PAY ATTENTION TO DETAILS. SO LOVELY!

Girl your outfit is super cool , and I love the clear boots !!!
ReplyDeleteAre they comfy to walk all day ?
thanks !
Angie
Yeah! They definitely are, if a little bit clunky (that's all doc-style boots though) but that is probably because mine are juuuust a little bit too big.
DeleteAnnika
DeleteAre the boots cold if you wear them in a rainy day ( or too hot) in springtime?
They're good in the cold - if you pair them with cute socks! They can get too hot on reaaally hot days - but they are definitely fine for spring :)
