A great way to ward off boredom (and a great way to procrastinate) when I'm studying is to ditch the study and go and dress up instead. (Great, Annika. If you're bored of studying, stop studying. Wise words of wisdom.) Anyway, dressing up is SO much fun with these awesome tights that I've been collecting (thanks to Oasap), and a pretty pastel pink princess dress doesn't hurt either. Nor does a wig.
I don't actually go out in public like this. Well, not exactly like this. I wish I had the courage to. I'll wear the dress and tights, but not my wig, or high heels. People tend to stare at me strangely when I go out all super dooper dressed up. I wish I lived in a magical city where when people dress up, they go all the way. And no one looks at you oddly for dressing up just to go do the shopping. Who wants to move with me to fashion utopia land? It would be quite nice. p.s., Rocking Horse - The Dead Weather. |

Acting Like A Grown-Up
The title of this look is basically due to the fact that I am not wearing baby blue/pink/pastels or my wig, or my hat, or a twirly skirt. I'm definitely stepping out of my comfort zone here! I'm dressed all grown-up-like. Well. As much as I possibly can. I still had to wear silly tights, of course (grown-up silly tights).

I really have been meaning to post a DIY on sweater clips as well, by the way, for all of you who have been waiting. I started the DIY and everything! And then I broke one of the clips. Unfortunately, they were my only clip-on earrings, so you're all going to have to wait for that tutorial, as the thrift stores have been oddly low on clip-on earrings as of late... (I swear that I used to see 100 billion pairs all the time and now I can't find them anywhere! Why!)

I Love You To Bits
These are some darn sweet tights. I really wanted tights with writing on them, but I was a bit worried about getting them because of the photo - to me it looked like they said "Bheave girl have isot arette egrobiovmlw favenhu..." (no kidding. Look at the product listing here. What?) But they're not gibberish at all! They're so sweet, on the front they say "You have been the only one for me. Life is not worth living without you. I love you to bits". D'awwwww. (I think if I were single I would have been vomiting, but I've become a seriously hopeless ball of mush whenever I see anything lovey-dovey now. It's so gross.)

Chictopia's "Back To Cool" Sale!
(I love a good pun.)
My blog and I are partnering up with Chictopia this month for their "Back to Cool" sale, happening from today until the 25th of September at the Chictopia shop!I've chosen a few items which are very back-to-school (or... yes, cool) worthy. While I'm glad that I don't have to go back to (high) school, I think I'd probably like it a bit better had I been able to wear these beautiful things. I had the most horrible mustard-and-maroon, shapeless, unflattering uniform for school. Which I had to wear EVERY. DAY. Anyway. Here are three back-to-school looks, the first one is made up of sale items from the Back To Cool Sale, and the other two are just some more pretty Chictopia shop items to help get you inspired. I am hoping to get some sale items myself (and wear them to uni! That's basically school, right? ...I'm still cool, right??):
Go and check out the sale! And I'll be back here in a couple of weeks showing off the items I got!
Much love,

When I look back at wearing this dress from Asos one year ago it's crazy to think how much has happened since then. I look back at those photos and think "I was just a baby!!" (With damn twiggy arms, as well). I also think "Wow. What a terrible, terrible blog post. Why did I just write that?" Haha. I somehow don't think I took my blog too seriously a year ago.
I like that I can still wear this dress after a year, though. It's definitely still one of my favourites.
Speaking of asos, I bought this dress today using my winnings from an asos competition. Yay!! If anyone has any awesome asos items to suggest that I should buy, please let me know :)
Also, this is my 200th post! Which is an exciting and arbitrary number. Thank you so much to everyone for being here and reading all the crap I have to say, it means a lot to me.

This was a pretty nice thing to come home to after a long day at uni. Thanks heaps, asos!

1950s Cat Cafe
Um, excuse me. But look at my tights. HOW ADORABLE ARE THEY?? I have kittens on my knees!!!
My mum found this amazing vintage dress for me (for something ridiculous like $1) a few months back, and I just got around to altering it. It was a size 18, long, 1950s milk-bar waitress style dress, but with these unfortunate puffy sleeves. So I shortened it considerably, took it in at the waist and shoulders, and fixed the collar so it buttons up to my neck. It's retained its 1950s waitress-ness, but looks a heck of a lot more flattering.
This outfit, a combination of a 1950s waitress-style and cats, is a tribute to Tokyo cat cafes! I can't believe I didn't go to any while I was in Japan. However, I may possibly be going back at the end of the year and I'll have to endeavour to go! Although, I won't be able to wear this outfit. I could just imagine a cat climbing up onto me and doing its weirdo kneading thing and well, sayonara, tights.

Hellooooo Spring!
I was entirely over the moon to have Modcloth contact me a few weeks ago asking about a collaboration with my blog! Of course, I said yes. I have only been obsessively following Modcloth for.. oh I don't know... some number of years. They were the first online store that I ever discovered, and I remember falling in love with it immediately as there was just nowhere in Australia that stocked the same kind of clothes as they did, and it opened up a whole new world of clothing possibilities to me.
I knew that I had to get both this cardigan and this dress once I saw them, because they would go together perfectly - and I wasn't at all disappointed! This is my bright yellow first-day-of-spring outfit. (Not that it is very warm yet. It snowed last night - winter wanted to go out with a bang, apparently. However, I am dressing optimistically.)

SO, you've all been eagerly anticipating the winner the of my kind-of-giveaway from the other day. Well, you sure made it hard because you all have really, really good style (or you really know my style down to a tee. Both are probably true and both make me super happy) BUT I had to choose Rachel from Floral Prints and Common Sense who designed me some amazing blouses. (You should probably also go check out her blog. It's full of really awesome style and designs and DIYs.)
Here is her entry:
I love them all, and they would all go so perfectly with this skirt, but I particularly want the green stripey shirt. It is so pretty. If I had the time, I would totally go and make it now, because I even have some fabric which is close to that and would work so well!! Ahh, why can't there be just a few more days in the week??? Rachel, please contact me whenever you get the chance!
Anyway, I hope you're all having a lovely beginning of season in whichever hemisphere of the globe you happen to reside in!
Much love,
