DIY Plaid Pinafore/Romper (with bows!)
This plaid, pinafore-style romper is probably my most favourite thing I've made! It's quite similar to my DIY overalls from a few posts back, except that the top part extends right up to my collar, and I added bows to either side of the shorts. I was inspired by this pinafore dress from Dahlia, which I pinned on Pinterest a few days ago (and if you follow my pinterest you'll always know what I'm going to be making really soon, haha).
While I was making them, my mum popped in and said "you know, I think this was the fabric for our school uniforms when I was younger..."
Great, haha. I also went to the same high school as my mum so.. that's fun. I must be having bizzare sadistic cravings to relive my high school days (although, the uniform had changed a bit from my mum's time. But the skirts were pretty much the same fabric as this, looking back on it...)

Mint & Baby Pink
I couldn't decide on short hair or long hair today so I did both. Which do you like best?
wearing
So I just had a kind of overwhelming amount of fabric and sewing goodies come my way, although it was through somewhat unfortunate circumstances. My mother's friend's mother sadly passed away the other week, and she had over her many years collected (...although hoarded may be the more correct term) a large amount of fabrics. I want to exaggerate the word large. Like... I'm talking about 1000s of different fabrics, and thousands of different bits and bobs and sewing stuff. It took a good part of a day to go through, and I came home with 2 super large boxes and and two massive canvas bags worth of fabric, elastic, thread, buttons, stamps, zippers... I'm never going to have to go to spotlight again, that much is true. I've already made a pair of shorts using some gorgeous tapestry fabric, and some plaid pinafore shorts/romper thing. Here's a sneaky peek of both:
Although it's really sad that she passed away, she was obviously a very creative person and I hope she would be happy if she had known all those fabrics she had collected have gone to a good home.
Hope you're all having a lovely weekend,

DIY Floral Overalls/Romper
I decided to make some floral overalls the other day. It was a ridiculously easy thing to make, so I hope the following photos of the process will inspire someone to make some for themselves! Also I always pose with my torso kind of twisted to the side which has made the overalls look all lopsided in the photos. They're really not... but I conveniently didn't notice this until I'd already climbed into comfy pyjamas. I'll take more photos one day soon, and try not to pose so wonky.. haha.
First, you just need to make some shorts like in this DIY. These are the easiest shorts to make in the world. But don't add any elastic yet. Also, make the waist a lot wider than you need (add a few inches to each side) - this will be fixed with elastic later. Make sure you can get them on and off before you continue!
Then you need to simply cut out a rectangle as wide as your shorts and as high up as you want it to be.
Now make the casing for the elastic on your shorts, but don't insert the elastic just yet.
You make the casing by turning your shorts inside out, folding down the top of the shorts all the way around, and then sewing all the way around, making sure to leave a small gap.
Now sew the rectangle you cut out to the front of the shorts...
Then insert the elastic into the waistband of the shorts... (good tutorial here).
And you should have something like this:
I then also added darts to the bodice for shape, and sewed little buttons on as well.
Then I just made two straps from the same fabric by cutting out 2 long strips much like I did in this tutorial on making suspenders. I attached them so that they were criss-crossed on the back.
And that was it!
I really haven't figured out exactly how to wear these floral overalls yet. I just threw on this blouse with it because I wanted to quickly take photos, but any suggestions of shirts people think would go really well with these overalls, I would be grateful to hear!

October already?
How is it October already?? I can't even believe that my uni exams are in a mere month! This year has flown by way too quickly.
Anyway, I've got an outfit post for you guys. I really, really need to start convincing someone to talk pictures of me outside. This dress is completely marvellous, but unfortunately blends in too much with this fabric background set-up of mine for you guys to see it properly!
Can an awesome photographer please move in next door and become my best friend? - particularly a photographer who has a compulsion to take photos all the time.
Also, how damn cute is this ring?
Thanks to Oasap for this ring! I love pretending my finger has a little animal on the end of it (I've actually taken to drawing a face on the end of my finger whenever I'm bored studying, moving my ring right to the tip of my finger and pretending it's Finn from Adventure Time - because he has the little cat ear hat? Yeah? Yeah? I'm so cool.)

Breathing Underwater
wearing
blouse c/o Oasap, collar clips from Ebay, skirt from a friend, shoes from Rubi Shoes, cardigan from Forever 21.
Yay, new hair! What do you think of it? I was blown away that you can get such quality wigs for $10. $10!! This one is probably the best quality one I've gotten so far because it looks so real! I think I may be becoming wig-obsessed, as I now have 4 in my collection and I keep ordering new ones... (this one is from here if you wanted to know!)
Also, my collar clips. Ahhh, Ebay. You are amazing. They're little hands, and they're just about the best thing ever.
I've also been obsessed with bright yellow patterns with cartoon-y leaves and flowers on them for a while now, so I was so happy to find this blouse on Oasap - it was exactly what I was looking for. Apart from the sleeves... (click through to the product listing to see the sleeves on this baby. They're pretty hilarious) but I will be cutting those off and then it will be perfect.
p.p.s. Please ignore my knee. It looks a bit gross (I fell over the other day and banged it up), but I felt really weird considering photoshopping it out. Like I'm saying "hey I'm never clumsy at all and never fall over while just walking..." (no, I wasn't wearing platforms either, haha).
