As I am obsessed with printed clothes at the moment, and also procrastinating on an assignment, I made a new tumblr at http://makebelievewardrobe.tumblr.com/
The idea of it is that I find a bunch of plain clothes, find some pretty prints or photos, and put them together through (somewhat dodgy) photo manipulation, to make a fantasy wardrobe of things which don't actually exist (....yet....)
The links to the images I used to create these babies are on the tumblr.
For example, here's a blouse I made...
Using this
and this
Make believe clothes :) If only this cat print blouse existed... ahh...
Here's some more I made today:
etc.... join the tumblr if you want to see more of this sort of thing, (and then be sad because you can't actually obtain these clothes in any way. Or, maybe it can be inspiration for a very ambitious DIY project.)
What do you do when you're procrastinating?

Oh how I wish those Docs were real!!
ReplyDeletedamn these are so lovely. why aren't they real :( i wish there were a website where you could send in what you wanted printed on simple cut dresses and blouses that were fashionable. sort of like screen print companies but instead of just being lame t shirts, you could create really wearable pieces, like what you have above. the dress with the woman and man playing on the beach is my absolute favorite!

This concept is just too depressing! I want it all!!
ReplyDeleteI love every one piece! I love collar tops, I love dress like these ones and I love cute patterns and ptints. But what I like best in last days are scallops so these shorts.....
ReplyDeletethat umbrella dress is adorable! why can't i have it?! — what a cruel, cruel, [beautiful] fantasy world you live in. totally following along now!
ReplyDeleteOMG those are sooooooo good. I think some of those are definitely obtainable as DIY... but the effort needed to put in it would be, as you said, a bit more than usual. Inspired!!!!!
ReplyDeletelove all the dress!

love this idea! I'm print obsessed as well. My faves you made is the kitty shirt and horse shorts. I'm obviously a pet lover too. :) totally cute.
ReplyDeleteyou could make a career out of this. someone should hire you RIGHT NOW so that we don't have to be depressed that these items don't exist. these are all so innovative and I would buy every single one of them. my favourite would be the third last. I'm in awe (as usual)!
ReplyDeleteThat is such a cool idea! But you are right I am now sad that I can't own that ferris wheel dress! I think I might have seen some galaxy docs somewhere though, so maybe someone read your thoughts and made them for you ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou have a lovely blog, I'm glad I found it :)

this is an awesome idea but you're right, now I feel pretty sad that the black and white godzilla dress will never be real. Let's hope some person who's high up in the world of fashion will see these, realise their greatness and then make them or perhaps this a doable DIY...
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing!

Ahh I hope so! So much! Or I'll just have to buy myself a clothing printing company, I guess! x
Delete.....how did I only just discover this?? PLEASE BECOME A FASHION DESIGNER. Write Modcloth and make them make these items. I will pay all the moneys for them, no joke.
ReplyDeleteoh, I love this idea! all you made looks terrific, great job!
ReplyDeleteSo I saw these dresses before I saw that they didn't actually exist and then I was extremely sad and made it a point to find customizable fabric yardage. AND I DID!!!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.spoonflower.com/get_started
It's not cheap but it's not crazy expensive. Just over $16 a yard isn't that bad. I am totally going to use this site and then make it a point to sew something from it. You should totally do it, your DIY vintage inspired outfits are amazing. You could create some killer pieces from it, especially with that beach photograph.
Oh my god. This is going to make me a broke, broke woman.
DeleteBut I kind of have to.
Please please please let me know if you do order off this site! I will endeavour to save up heaps of money and buy myself some fabric!! Too good!

You just made my dream wardrobe!
ReplyDeleteoh my gosh.. I wish those photo print dresses actually existed in real life, I would totally buy them. Especially the ferris wheel one!! ah!
ReplyDeleteps. I've ordered from spoonflower before (I currently have 3 yards of fabric in the mail with a photo from the hubble space telescope printed on it! It's going to be a dress soon :D) and I love it! It's sort of pricey for fabric, but in the end it's probably less than an actual dress with a full-scale photo print would be :)
Okay. As soon as I have some sort of income, I am ordering fabric from Spoonflower! That kind of sounds like the best thing ever, I am obsessed with science and astronomy! That's going to be the best best dress, can't wait til you blog about it :)
DeleteAnd that's true, I just need to get a little better at sewing first I think, so I don't mess the whole thing up! xx
