Make, Thrift, Buy - a new youtube series

Hello! I'm just popping in quickly today to let you all know about the new Youtube series that I've started!

The idea behind this series is to show you that when you see something really cool in an online/real-life store, you don’t immediately have to go and spend all your money on it – because you can often find a very similar thing in thrift shops, or, with a little bit of sewing knowledge and DIY-attitude, you can make the item for yourself.

So the challenge is this - you guys send me pictures of clothes you have found on the internet, and I have to try and recreate the item, either through DIY, thrifting or a combination of the two (without having to resort to fast fashion!)

Let me know what you think, and if you have any links to clothes that you would like me to do this challenge with, please leave them in the comments below!

  1. Just watched the video, and I love the idea behind this series. It's really great, especially with the general youtube viewership age - should save some parents/uni students some cash! :)

I have put off buying clothes as one of my 101 in 1001 goals so I have resorted to thrifting so this is a great great GREAT idea!

  4. How on earth did you manage to find two amazing skirts that i have been searching high and low for, for the longest time. Clearly Aus is winning on the thrifting stakes and i am very jealous. I truly need that white one and i am crying over here.

  5. I am such and avid thrifter, and I love this idea! More than half of my wardrobe has been thrifted; it's a wonder I didn't thrift my wedding dress, ha! I can't wait to see more of these! (I see those types of skirts at my local thrift store ALL the time too! I'd never spend $65 on one when I know I can grab one thrifting for less than $5.)

  8. Such a great new series! Love the skirts so much, can't believe how easy it was for you to find them though. There aren't any thrift stores around me and the charity shops I really have to hunt through to find any gems, I can never find something I'm specifically looking for though :(

  9. I know this is like 2 years old but I'm hoping you'll answer anyway. I love that zipper adjustment! I've never seen anything like it. Could you possibly do a segment on it? Are those widely available in sewing shops in Australia? I've only ever seen the button elastic which can be a pain to work with.
