Clueless Inspired Outfit - Make Thrift Buy #2

Well hi there! Guess who has a new video out?

For this episode of Make, Thrift, Buy I attempted to tackle this tartan two-piece. I won't tell you how I went - you'll have to find out by watching the video (but I will preface it by saying that I am so excited about this one):

Please help me out & leave me links to any cool/interesting/expensive clothes you've seen on the internet that you'd like me to try out!

Much love,

  1. This was really straight-to-the-point and inspired me to finally find a bobbin for my recently thrifted sewing machine and get to it. Thank you!

  5. You did such a good job! I'm in love with how it turned out. There is a way to sew the front and back together with the linings seamlessly (without having the seams showing from the inside of your top), but I won't bore you with that unless you really want to know (there is a lot of complicated explaining, haha). If you do want to know, feel free to shoot me an email (:
    Here is a suggestion for your next one: http://www.romwe.com/angel-print-galaxy-dress-p-73731.html?SASSource=shareasale

    1. Ahhh that's a great suggestion, thank you so much!

      Ohh I would like to know that (for this project I don't mind having seams because the idea of the video series is that it's supposed to be easy to do..), but that's really interesting! Do you cut the thing out like all 4 top-bits connected together or something...?

  6. Oh-emm-gee, what a flippin' fantastic project! Love it to bits :)))

    Here's a dress: http://www.modcloth.com/shop/dresses/storytelling-showstopper-dress-in-charcoal and I choose this one because a) I think you'd look absolutely gorgeous in it (a touch shorter, maybe?), b) I'd been drooling over it for a long time now and c) I actually found a horrendous 4X knit dress at a thrift store and made my own (shabby) version ;)

  7. Not a creeper, but I was just creepin' on your instagram (ok, maybe a creeper) and saw your embroidery of the two organic chairs on your lab coat (super well done, genius and impressive btw). Could you possibly explain why it says 'hi'? I took chem throughout high school and uni first year chem, so I know the basics about chairs, bonds, amines (or are those amides... wow it's been too long) etc, but I don't get this and it looks interesting as to why they're assigned letters? Or even tell me what it's called? I want to look it up and be cool understanding your joke haha!

    1. Herp, I reread it and they're amino acids... I get it now ;n;

    2. Oh! Yep. Cool :) glad you worked it out! Haha yeah it's histadine (gets the amino acid abbreviation of H) and isoleucine (I)!
      "HI".
      Biggest geek joke ever... haha

  10. I have been wanting this slip for a year, but I can't bring myself to spend almost $100 on such light fabric. Maybe you can find an alternative?
