Mermaid Bay

 wearing
dress - c/o Faith & Lola
swimmers - Asos

I promised you guys I'd get some beach shots while I was on holidays. Shooting at "golden hour" on a beach with a flowy, over-the-top dress (and credit for the photographs goes to my boyfriend Luci) is something I have wanted to do for so long now. It's probably cliché but it's also really pretty, so who cares?
These beaches are amazing, and basically deserted, meaning we often have them all to ourselves. I am so lucky to be able to visit these beaches for a holiday, and when the sun sets, and the stars come out (spectacularly - due to there being very little light pollution) it feels pretty magical.
Hope you're all having a beautiful day,

  5. I can't really imagine it's summer over there ! Hey, that's another nice scientific fact; we share the same earth at the same time, but some people are freezing and other enjoying the warm sun ;)
These pictures are so dreamy and beautiful.

    1. Awww sorry for the lack of science this post, haha. I felt like I had so many photos, the post would be too long! Here's a past beach-related science fact for you though: http://www.pineneedlecollective.com/2012/11/little-red-boots.html

That post was inspired by the last time I went to the beach and saw all these bluebottles washed up on the shore! And then learnt that the bluebottles were all made up of tiiiny colonies of individual animals!

    2. Yea, read that post a ways back and was excited to know you were interested in siphonophorae, they're so strange and interesting. Stumbling across this weird (for a few reasons) video [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-NWEdAkL92w] was what first got me researching them and soon took me to Bluebottles which are just as interesting. The sea is so amazing, so unknown, like The Bloop and it's relatives from that hydrophone array.

Your scale of the universe tidbit with that interactive scale, was really great the first time I saw it, but I was glad to be reminded of it again and this time I look bigger instead of smaller, so amazing.

Keep up the good work, Annika.

    3. WOW. That siphonophore is so cool. (and even better, the video was from a japanese variety show - I freaking love them haha)

Also, thanks so much!! I'm glad you appreciate it! <3
